Where are we located?

Botanical garden of the Department of Biology (Faculty of science) makes southern part of Zagreb’s lower town Green or Lenuzzi horseshoe; it extends from the Miramarska road in the east to the Runjaninova street in the west, along the Mihanovićeva street and the Marulićev square in the west, with the rail embankment in the south.

Entrances

We suggest you use the main entrance (GU) to the Garden, located at the crossing of the Mihanovićeva and the Gundulićeva streets (northern side of the Garden). The auxiliary entrance without the stairs (PU), suitable for wheelchairs, baby strollers and bicycle parking, is situated near the exhibition greenhouse, where the Mihanovićeva street meets the eastern side of the Marulić square.  The Garden can also be entered via pedestrian bridge (MU) near the exhibition pavilion in the east (the Miramarska road), and on working days until 2 pm through the employee and car entrance (KU) by the Garden head office, near the Runjaninova street (west). Entrances are marked in the garden plan.

How to reach us?

Located in the centre of the lower town, the Garden is easily accessible on foot, simply by following parks and squares of the green (Lenuzzic) horseshoe to the south. The Gundulićeva street, which stretches from the main Ilica street, will lead you directly to the main entrance of the Garden.

Arriving by car is somewhat difficult due to restricted parking spaces in nearby streets (first parking zone). The nearest public garage is located near the Hotel Esplanade (entrance from the Grgur Ninski street) and the Main railways station. If you are coming to Zagreb by train, simply take a short walk to the west and use the pedestrian bridge entrance.

Tram lines 2, 4 and 9 pass along the Garden (Mihanovićeva street; stops ‘Botanic garden’ and ‘Vodinkova’), and more lines are available on nearby stop n the Savska street (to the west of the Garden).

Visiting hours

The Garden is regularly open to public from April 1 to October 31 (bad weather conditions or other technical problems could delay the opening by a week). In case of nice weather in early spring and late autumn, we open in March and close the Garden in November.

The Garden is open on public holidays with the exception of the Easter, the Assumption o Mary Day (August 15) and All saints’ Day (November 1).

The end of the visiting hours is marked by the closing of the MAIN ENTRANCE, with all the other entrances/exits being closed 15 minutes earlier. By the end of visiting hours all visitors are asked to leave the Garden.
