The Garden is closed
The Garden is closed to the public from the 1st December till Spring.
Opening to the Public is planned for Wednesday, May 20th at 10 AM.
Exhibition pavilion visiting hours
During the season the exhibition pavilion hosts various botanical exhibitions and small shop with souvenirs and publications. The pavilion opens at noon, from Wednesday till Sunday, and closes an hour before the end of the Garden visiting time (6 pm in summer, 5 pm in spring and autumn).
Where are we located?
Botanical garden of the Department of Biology (Faculty of science) makes southern part of Zagreb’s lower town Green or Lenuzzi horseshoe; it extends from the Miramarska road in the east to the Runjaninova street in the west, along the Mihanovićeva street and the Marulićev square in the west, with the rail embankment in the south.
Public Entrance/exit to the Garden is situated near the exhibition greenhouse, where the Mihanovićeva street meets the eastern side of the Marulić square. The entrance is suitable for wheelchairs, baby strollers and bicycle parking.
How to reach us?
Located in the centre of the lower town, the Garden is easily accessible on foot, simply by following parks and squares of the green (Lenuzzi) horseshoe to the south. The Gundulićeva street, which stretches from the main Ilica street, will lead you directly to the main entrance of the Garden.
Arriving by car is somewhat difficult due to restricted parking spaces in nearby streets (first parking zone). The nearest public garage is located near the Hotel Esplanade (entrance from the Grgur Ninski street) and the Main railways station. If you are coming to Zagreb by train, simply take a short walk to the west and use the pedestrian bridge entrance.
Tram lines 2, 4 and 9 pass along the Garden (Mihanovićeva street; stops ‘Botanic garden’ and ‘Vodinkova’), and more lines are available on nearby stop n the Savska street (to the west of the Garden).
The Garden is open to the Public until November 23. It is closed during the winter months.
Monday and Tuesday: 10 AM – 2.30 PM
From Wednesday to Sunday: 10 AM – 6 PM
Two guards are constantly monitoring the Garden so please follow the Garden rules (e.g. no bikes, no dogs – however small, no picknicks….) as well as epidemiological recommendations (two meter distance, hand desinfection etc.) for your own safety.
All buildings, including the PUBLIC TOILET, are temporarily closed to public use!
All the entrances/exits and important buildings are labelled in the map: main entrance (GU), auxiliary entrance (PU), pedestrian bridge – eastern entrance (MU), employee and car entrance (KU), Garden head office (UV), exhibition pavilion (IP), information kiosk (KI), public toilet (WC), railway embankment (HŽ). Detailed map of the Garden is available in the link.
